After receiving a traffic ticket, the repercussions are just beginning. A driver who has been ticketed has 30 days to respond by going to court to fight the ticket, paying the ticket and admitting guilt and its associated points, or paying the ticket and avoiding the points by taking a driver improvement course. In Florida, a point system is used to track a driver’s violations over a certain period of time. If too many points are accumulated during a short enough time, an individual’s driver’s license may be suspended or revoked.

With the Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) Course from Safety Council of Palm Beach County, residents can eliminate many of the consequences that come from traffic tickets. With the BDI Course, no points will be added to the driver’s license record, there will be no guilty finding in court, the driver’s “Safe Driver” status will be retained on their record, and no insurance penalty will be added to their premium because of the violation, unless the insurance company incurred a loss due to an at-fault accident.

The Basic Driver Improvement Course is offered live in an informal setting, allowing for interactive discussions and encouraging questions. There is less pressure when an individual takes the 4 hour class in person, and is easier to get into than an online class. Right now, our BDI classes are limiting capacity sizes in order to maintain physical distancing.

Many employers choose this program as an annual class for an employer driver training program. We offer this program on-site or at our locations. Insurance companies often give a discount for attending this course depending on the carrier.

For just $35, including the state fee, the course is offered in English, Spanish, Creole, and for the hearing-impaired. Find a class date that works for you today by viewing our course calendar.
